Good afternoon if they're good for the waiter was very nice and helpful. Will go with friends and family.
Waitress was pleasant. However the food was of poor quality. The steak was fatty and the Ahi tuna was disgusting. I do not recommend this place.
Great place to meet friends!
I wanted to give this place a good review after seeing the menu and options.Save your money and go to the local Tavern in Bangor or big boy. I thought the prime rib would be excellent with au jus and horseradish (prime rob is a staple to horseradish). I get the cut and couldn't taste horseradish. I asked the server for more horseradish and was informed after the cut was served they such have horseradish. What kind of a restaurant offers a taste on a menu and not inform you that they don't have it available fully? And still serve it to you....The new your strip, for being aged meat they advertise is just as good at your local bar or bigboy. Save your money is my suggestion.
Their happy hour steak was fabulous
The filet mignon was fabulous! Thank goodness for a GOOD steak house in South Haven. Try the homemade coconut creme pie. It’s also fabulous. This place reminds me of a supper club like they have in Door County, WI. 👍
I’ve been going to Sophie’s for many years. Since it’s move to Broadway, it has been sliding. Saturday may have been my last visit. My last two steaks were cooked medium, not medium rare. Service was very inattentive and slow. AC wasn’t working well in the back room. Our server started out nice enough, but seemed to enjoy a table in the other dining room more. We had to request service twice. I really wish it was as good as it used to be. It was a favorite.
Good appetizers. Nice ambiance, can tell management doesn't pay attention to the little things e.g. bulbs out in the chandeliers, milk jnstead of cream for coffee, bulbs over tables just alittle to low for conversation and eye contact. Great drinks!
Friendly staff. Nice quite atmosphere. Good food
A truly great place for dinner. Staff is friendly, outgoing and attentive. An honest, five star rating. Keep up the great work.
TERRIBLE! Called to make sure they had crab legs for my anniversary - they told us on the phone they did. We ordered a bottle of wine then placed our order only to be told they did'nt have them. If you do not have a product then don't tell your customers that you have it!!
The tenderloin filet I had was grilled nicely, to the temperature I ordered, and had good flavor; my friend said her salmon was done nicely as well. The fresh bread was very good. My friend found plastic wrap in her spinach. We both took home dessert to eat while watching the sunset. My chocolate tort was really tastey, but had a stringy thing in it which caused me to throw it away. My friend's blueberry 'cobbler' was, as she described it, "just blueberry soup." So ... very unlikely we'll be going back.
Had drinks and the steak appetizer. Both were fantastic. Will be back for dinner sometime.
The steaks here are cooked to perfection. Only 4 stars due to having to wait for between 10-15 minutes for our server to come to the table so we could order our drinks. Once we got started the service was excellent. Again the Steaks are perfect.
Had a wonderful meal, everything cooked about perfect and portions were good sized. Travis was our waiter and he was awesome, great staff, really good food, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Sophie's is our favorite restaurant in South Haven. The food is consistently delicious, they really know how to prepare steak to order, the Staff is engaging and competent, and the ambiance relaxing. We come here to celebrate and to heal after a hard week.
Ahi tuna cooked to perfection. Bon appetit!
To expensive for common folk. Low light. Dont order steak. They must be new...
Very disappointed with this restaurant. Service was fair. I ordered a New York strip sirloin that was awful. It was very thin and very fatty. I would equate it with a steak from a Ponderosa or Bonanza. Very pricey....$45 for a mediocre steak. Also, restaurant was nearly empty when a couple was turned away because they had no reservation. At the end of our meal there were still empty tables.???Go to Clementines for a better and more affordable meal.
The service was very poor. Friend asked for steak knife, never got it. I only got half my meal, she brought out other half when I was done with meal. Waited long time to check out. No manager available. Will not go back!!!
There's something wrong here. They served truly raw "fried" chicken to our two-year-old grandchild. Fortunately her parents noticed when cutting it up. Waitress took it away and said she'd tell the manager. She didn't. We happened to see the manager as we started (immediately) to leave because of the health hazard. To her credit, the manager said she was horrified and mortified. Other signs of poor management: out of draught beer, mayonnaise, and mustard. Inattentive waitstaff.
Tello italian Bistro recommended. 1/10 On the style of this restaurant. It is very depressing, all black and it’s old. It says their signature steaks are aged THEY ARE NOT. It’s so DISGUSTING to lay a piece of garbage dried up meat that isn’t prepared correctly. Little pink inside was okay but is was super chewy with fat and it costs $50. The sides looked delicious on the menu it said baked potatoes IT WAS LITERALLY DONE FROM THE MICROWAVE AND SERVED IN TIN FOIL. Drinks- The average bar.
Fantastic dinner and our server was very courteous.
Very relaxing atmosphere. Live music and great service.
Let me start with the good, the waitress and manager were professional and agreed that both meals were of pour quality. Being someone who doesn’t often complain I found this just too poor not to send them back. The seared tuna looked like it was cooked in a microwave and the fillet mignon with jumbo shrimp for $38 was a very poor quality meat, looked more like a skirt steak and in place of 2 jumbo shrimp as called out on the menu, they thought 4 tiny shrimp would be of equal value. The appetizer wasn’t very good but we ate it, so we paid for that ,our wine and left a 25% tip. I doubt it would be good if we tried it again. Beware
Intimate atmosphere, Great presentation, FANTASTIC MENU, everything was memorably delicious. Absolutely a favorite place for a meal worth every penny.
Definitely not worth the trip. The steaks were not cooked to order, baked potatoes tasted very earthy and while the waitress was pleasant she didn't seem to know much about the menu. The menu itself was incomplete as the only thing it offered was food and alcohol. The hostess took her time to getting back to her area. We waited about 3 to 5 minutes before we were seated. There was a larger party in the back and one other couple by the entrance. It seemed like the staff was more interested in gathering by the bar closest to the kitchen and chatting.
Food was good and waitress was excellent. We had filets and the truffle Mac and cheese, I must confess having truffle oil I didn't taste any in the Mac and cheese but with all the cheeses it was good. The crab mushrooms had little crab in them but again flavor was good. The steaks were cooked to order not overdone.Waitress was down to earth and very nice, being her second night if she hadn't said anything we wouldn't have known. Pace of meal was food and she refilled waters and teas often.Atmosphere is more upscale and prices match.I would recommend that the restaurant puts the menu posted outside so potential customers know prices ahead of time to avoid embarrassment. We saw several couples and families leave after being seated and seeing the menu.
Food just ok. Took server almost an hour to let us know they were out of the ribeyes we had ordered.
Nice atmosphere employees friendly. Will go back. First time there.
Monday night was quiet (2-3 tables occupied). Waitress was very nice, food delicious. True to its name, menu is steak, steak, steak, or seafood.
My husband and I went in for a steak dinner and it just sucked. I had ordered prime rib medium and I came out refrigerator cold and my husband ordered 30oz ribeye steak he wanted it rare and came out well done It was a 80$ worth of meat that went in the trash we will never go back nor will we recommend this place.
Great atmosphere, quiet and classy. Food was good but had two separate issues. My Chicken cordon bleu was slightly over cooked making it a bit tough. More importantly, pieces of long dark hair was found in my dates hamburger and also amongst her French fries. (My date is a redhead) When brought to the attention of the waitress she apologized, with no further actions being taken. Didn't offer to replace the dish, no discount, not even an offer for a free desert. Accidents occur, however how someone responds makes a success or deal breaker. We most likely will not return again.
The sprouts could use more bacon (looked like half a strip crumbled) and they werent crispy. Thw bacon salad could use more bacon too. Looked like they used 1 strip. Other than that food was good
Great food and service, live the optional steak toppings.
Great cozy steak oriented restaurant. Used to be the Thirsty Perch. A tad pricey but a great experience for fine dining in South Haven. Conveniently located.
Spent $50 on a Delmonico steak. I was totally excited and expecting a great tasting meal... Wrong. Why on earth would a steak taste and smell like grilled salmon? I'm pretty sure that they grill their steaks and fish on the same flat top. Chalk Sophie's restaurant up to another let down in the South Haven area.
A really great steakhouse! Great restaurant layout, big portions, and great steak of course.1 watch out: the menu is not suited for someone not interested in typical steakhouse fare.
We love coming to Sophie’s for date night. It never disappoints. Their Manhattan’s are great. We enjoy the stuffed mushrooms, wedge, filets and lava cake. The service is always friendly and Christine always remembers us and our order. She is the best.
Wonderful food and wine!
Took my wife there for her birthday, from start to finish absolutely awesome highly recommend this restaurant. The food was cooked to perfection loved the appetizers and the drinks were right on!
Steak is good not great service is spotty depending on who you get good cocktails good apps
The food and service is great! Prices are outrageous.
Food quality was good but not one of got our filets cooked right. All way over done. Don't order the extras either. The cheese crusted gorgonzola was runny and the only thing missing with the creamed spinach was a spoon. Only 3 tables with customers so it wasn't like the chef was slammed. Way overpriced for what you got and three different prices on the same bottle of wine. Bring the Thirsty Perch back.
Great bartender. Very attentive. We didnt eat there, but the drinks were great pours. and the ambience was quiet and comfortable, just what we were looking for!
Wine was decent. The food was just OK. For the prices they charge, and the hot main-street location you'd think that you'd be getting an excellent piece of meet, well selected, seasoned, and cooked... but instead I paid somewhere around $30 a plate for a mediocre entree. The tuna appetizer was very good though; probably the best thing about my visit. Service was 3/10. Got stuck with the new guy who probably only filled waters once and lingered around the table uncomfortably. He was supposed to be shadowing someone who obviously was missing in action most of the course.
Upon walking in, the steakhouse smelled musty, like an old consignment shop. We didn't receive our appetizer until our main meals came to the table. Out of 5 of us, 3 orders were improperly cooked/missing things/wrong. Service was far below acceptable standards, definitely don't plan on going back.
Fine atmosphere, delicious and gigantic hunks of red meat. Friendly and helpful service. They were very accommodating when my friend wanted to choose our table.
Well I went here just yesterday with my boyfriend, were both late teens so it felt very different to be in a fancy-ish restaurant but everything was okay other than the fact that bald guy that was our waiter kept pushing for desert and basically to buy more I definitely felt like he was trying to take advantage of us because we’re a couple of kids and the blonde lady that kept coming around too trying to push my boyfriend to take home his food when he said no twice. Just kind of an odd place with way too pushy staff members and way too expensive for food that tastes like any other mediocre steakhouse and judging by the ridiculous amounts of terrible reviews I should’ve looked first before I went so I wouldn’t have spent $70 on 2 tiny meals and a tiny appetizer ugh!
